Mandatory Continuing Education Source Information (MCE)
You are subject to MCE if:
-
you are a salesperson, not under Salesperson Annual Education (SAE) requirements.
-
you are a broker not exempted in October 1991 by Senate Bill 432.
In all cases, an inactive license does not require MCE. Only active
licenses have a MCE requirement. Per year, licensees must have at least
15 classroom hours of TREC approved Mandatory Continuing Education, 6
hours of which must be in legal topics.
If you fall under SAE
requirements, then whether you are an inactive or active agent, you must
complete a minimum of 30 hours of approved courses each year until you
have earned a total of 270 classroom hours. At least 180 hours must be
in core real estate classes. After January 1, 2002 at least 210
hours of the 270 must be in core real estate, and the other 60 hours may
be in related courses.
If you are unsure of whether or not you are lacking MCE or SAE hours, please contact the Texas Real Estate Commission to determine your status. If you already know that you are in need of courses, the following list of providers may prove helpful.
